Take Root Farm is eleven acres of fertile farmland in Buckley, WA with beautiful views of Mount Rainier and the Cascade foothills.
The farm is owned and operated by Drew and Jenny Miller who are committed to using safe growing practices that will protect the soil and our members. Not only do we avoid the use of pesticides, but all artificial fertilizers as well. We maintain soil fertility by using only natural fertilizers, lots of organic matter, cover cropping, and crop rotation.
Our "Roots"
We have lived in the area for over 20 years. Our two children are also involved in much of what goes on at the farm. We began farming in the spring of 2002. Before the birth of the CSA program in 2005, we spent three years cultivating the soil and growing winter squash for a 500 member CSA in Woodinville, “The Root Connection”. The Root Connection is owned and operated by Jen’s mother, Claire Thomas sometimes referred to as the grandmother of CSA. That’s because The Root Connection is the oldest and largest CSA in Washington and one of the first in the U.S.A.
